Description

This very detailed map of the Indian Territory and the North West portion of Texas includes a wealth of information including early township surveys, roads, post offices, county seats, rivers as well as railroad lines and stations. The lands ceded to various Native American tribes are marked. The panhandle of Texas is marked as the home to the Kiowas Indians and the Comanches Hunting Grounds. The Llano Estacado or Staked Plains, one of the largest mesas or tablelands on the North American continent and a truly hauntingly beautiful unique part of the county, is clearly marked in West Texas.

The Asher & Adams publishing firm was known for their Atlases featuting county maps of the United States. Their US maps were some of the first to prominently exhibit railroad lines.
