Travis’ Last Letter from the Alamo
Considered to be one of the most heroic documents in all of American history, this call to arms written by William Barret Travis was carried through enemy lines by Albert Martin a 30 year old Tennessean. In response 32 brave men bid farewell to their families and rode from Gonzales to the Alamo which was entirely surrounded by Santa Anna’s elite forces. In the early morning hours of March 1 they fought their way through Santa Anna’s lines. No other help was able to reach Travis in time. Martin along with the men he recruited died on March 6, 1836 defending the Alamo and the cause of liberty.
This exact museum replica is framed in aged dark wood with a vintage photograph of the Alamo (measuring approximately 24 by 32 inches) and is accompanied by a printed transcript in a matching frame (measuring approximately 15 by 18 inches).
